Volunteers and Students

WVWA are a placement provider for college and university students. For more information regarding placements please contact us.

Supporting vulnerable families is sensitive work and requires not only a high level of expertise and experience but certain interpersonal skills to demonstrate respect and empathy.

Each refuge and domestic abuse service operates under different rules and procedures, but all require volunteers and students on placement to produce a current CRB disclosure and to undertake a full induction.

If you are thinking of volunteering with a domestic abuse service you must have a good understanding of domestic abuse, the impact upon victims and their children and the issues affecting families who have moved away from an abuser. We offer training to individuals and groups on domestic abuse awareness and developing skills link to professional development.
